An easy and effective way you can give a little to change a lot is “workplace giving”.
Workplace Giving: What is it, and how does it work?
Workplace Giving is also known as payroll giving, and as the name implies, it involves contributing regular and consistent donations through your workplace.
Employees donate a nominated, fixed portion of their pay on a regular basis – for example, $5 each week, fortnight or month – to a charity like us!
The deduction is taken out pre-tax, so there’s no messy paperwork for you to fill out at the end of the financial year.
It’s a great way to set and forget, as long as you don’t forget about what an incredible person you are for doing it!
To understand the full details though, the ATO explains more about how it here:
Benefits of Workplace Giving to Employees and Businesses
- Regular donations are set up to be deducted automatically, so you don’t have to think about when and how to show your support to a cause you care about.
- Maximum tax benefit, as the amount is taken pre-tax it means less out of your pocket. For example, when you give $5 from your pre-tax earnings, it only costs you approximately $3.50. However, Willow House Community Support Ltd receives the full $5 donation. It’s important to note that the exact figure and benefit will depend on which tax bracket you are sitting in.
Benefits for businesses include:
- Promotes employee engagement, boosts morale and has a positive impact on staff culture
- Showcases your corporate social responsibility
- Empowers staff to make a difference for a good cause
Note: For your business to have an even greater impact on the cause, why not match your employee donations? Other ways you can give back as a company include workplace fundraising.
What Impact Does Your Support Have?
Workplace giving is a form of regular giving, and for charities like us, it’s the most reliable source of funding to ensure that life-saving programs can continue.
The impact of your support means that people suffering with depression, anxiety and mental health conditions can be supported with more funding opportunities from Willow House Community Support, helping them find more effective treatment options, and making positive changes to their lives with our vital work and our mental health retreat.
All Contributions Make an Impact

Even a few dollars each pay makes a substantial difference, as the amount accumulates over time.
Imagine if you and 10 other colleagues contributed just $5 per week from your pay. Think that’s too small to make a difference? No way! Together, that’s $2400 per annum that can now support important initiatives to help people make positive changes in their lives and have somewhere to go when suffering a mental health crisis.
